Ofqual

Project
Take One were commissioned by Ofqual to help create their photo library. As a new organisation Ofqual needed to build a resource of images reflecting the breadth of their remit, and in keeping with their brand. The images would be used in flagship publications, online and in marketing materials.

Take One researched suitable educational establishments, set up shoots, organised “models” and all the necessary consent forms, and then carried out the post production of the images. This involved carrying out photography at 12 locations including primary schools, colleges and work places. It was imperative to ensure inclusivity so Take One planned shoots carefully to include learners with special needs and reflect diversity.

The “models” were staff and students within the establishments. Due to data protection it was crucial that anyone appearing in these photographs had completed an Ofqual consent form. These had to be signed by the parents or guardians for anyone under the age of 16. The administration of these forms was a very important and time consuming task, however Take One are well versed with the requirements.

Following post production Take One uploaded the images into a secure password protected online gallery, where Ofqual were able to tick to select the images they wanted for their library. Then the necessary post production was carried out. Key wording and metadata were embedded into the images and the images supplied to Ofqual.

Take One undertakes photography for a wide range of clients. Photo library consultancy and development services have been provided to other government departments including The Department for Education (formerly the Department for Children, Schools and Families), Training and Development Agency (TDA) and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). Ofqual Feedback
"It's important that we have a good stock of images which we can draw on going forward. This project has laid the groundwork for us and provided some really strong images which we've already used in a number of our key publications. Carrie and the team were easy to work with, very committed to our tight deadlines and offered constructive advice throughout the project."

Some of the images can be seen in this Ofqual A-Level guide, GCSE guide and the Chief Regulator's Report.
