Department for Education: The Children's Plan

Project
In 2007 the Department for Education (DfE) published the first ever Children's Plan, a vision for change to make England the best place in the world for children and young people to grow up.

Two years on, the Children's Plan is proving to be a tremendous success. In autumn 2009, Take One was commissioned by DfE to produce a number of programmes to showcase the Children's Plan in action; to demonstrate how the Children's Plan is helping to provide access to good quality education for all children; to show how it is giving young people safe and secure places to socialise outside of school; to demonstrate how families and young children are accessing public services within the community and to underline the work that is being done to provide training and apprenticeships to school leavers as they seek to develop a career.

Take One filmed in four locations across the UK including a Sure Start Early Years Centre, a secondary school, a state of the art facility for young people to socialise and an engineering training facility. The varied locations accurately represented the diverse and broad cultural make up of the UK, and provided a rich source of imagery for the crew to capture in stunning high definition.

DfE Feedback
"We were delighted with the films Take One produced for us to demonstrate the local impact of the Children's Plan in a range of diverse places. Their commitment to both creative excellence and effective project management is impressive. We particularly valued the team's sensitivity to both the complexity of public policy, and the needs of everyone involved, from ministers to local businesses and schools, and of course the children, young people and others who gave their time. We've had some great feedback, including from the highest level."
